How it works

Volunteer Opportunities with IHN

Adopt a Family at Christmas

IHN mobilizes over 1,000 volunteers at 90 congregations across the city. Twenty-seven “host” congregations (two per week) provide shelter sites and meals, and 63 “support” congregations work with the host congregations to provide volunteers, meals and supplies. HPCUMC is one of the host congregations. It takes over 50 volunteers each week. Sign up here to help.

HPCUMC has 4 IHN hosting weeks each year. Our last hosting week for 2011 is October 30 - November 6. We have one supporting congregation, St. Mary's Catholic Church, who volunteers on Tuesday nights.

Host Congregations are area churches and synagogues that provide 3 meals a day, private sleeping space, and volunteers to create a "home away from home" for the families. Support Congregations assist the Host Congregations by providing donated meals and volunteers. 8 families a week (32 individuals; two-thirds of whom are children) are served through IHN if Greater Cincinnati Cincinnati.

It takes 50 volunteers for one hosting week.

Please check out the VOLUNTEER page to see how you can help!
