Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was hit by a devastating mile-wide,
swirling tornado on April 27, 2011, after some 200 tornadoes
had already plummeted through eight southern states just
days before.  On Sunday, May 22, 2011 tornadoes ripped through Joplin, Missouri devastating neighborhoods, marketplaces and church buildings.  The death toll from the massive tornado that devastated Joplin, Mo., reached 132 on May 27.
